Miracle Man

And it's not our words this time. TJ was moved up to rehab today and the evening nurse greeted him with "so you're the miracle man!" Indeed. Apparently a nurse from the last station was trying to convince them how sick he was and they wouldn't believe it based on what they saw.

Tomorrow TJ starts intensive rehab, occupational therapy (OT), PT, and speech therapy (ST? how about SOPT for all of them?), OT and PT twice a day according to the evening nurse. Speech therapy mostly be swallowing at this point, as speech isn't too much of a difficulty. He is going from croaky to hoarse, like someone with a bad cough... like him.

As far as the mitral valve goes, the cardiologist says they don't need to check it again for another two to three months.

Personally I've (Jon) have seen noted improvement over the last 48 hours. He now has control over his fingers, even if he is still a little shaky, can get up out of bed and use the walker, and get back into bed.

I think how sick he was is starting to kick in, with some comments from the doctors. TJ told me that the doctors -- all of the doctors that have had him -- told him that he should be dead. I've been thinking this for awhile, but wasn't sure it was a good idea to blog it. Well, now I have Md backing.

Specific prayer requests would be for continued progress in recovery and for protection from anxiety as the reality of how close he was to dying sinks in. Also please pray for God's continued work outside of TJ through his experience. And, of course, don't forget praises for a not-dead TJ!

Dear TJ, Mary Ann, and family,

Today, I was called to the hospital to a labor room to speak to a couple that wanted to be married before their little baby was born. Both Joseph and Lisa received Jesus and we tied the knot in the labor room where things were very active, as Lisa was almost ready to push. It was a tremendous blessing to see God's work in a situation that seemed quite amazing. With tears in their eyes, they gave their hearts to Jesus and then said their marriage vows.

It made me think again, "Isn't it amazing what God can do?" And that's what they are saying about you, TJ--"Isn't it amazing what God can do!"

Amazing it is, not only in who God is, but what He does, how He works, where He shows up, when He speaks, whom He speaks through, and on and on. Your life TJ will have lots of people rethinking prayer, rethinking their thoughts about God's healing power, and the message will be deeper than any of us will ever know. Like Joseph and Lisa, the way God has worked may seem bazaar to some, but God's trademark is that His marvelous ways are past finding out. Your continued healing will probably continue to amaze folk. That is God and His vintage ways confounding the doctors, nurses, and even all of us who are praying. Even after an all night prayer meeting for Peter's life to be spared, the intercessors didn't believe Rhoda when she said Peter was at the door. But he was, and so are you, walking, talking, exercising and confounding man's logic. We can't put our God in a box for He breaks out to show Himself strong where it seems impossible. I'm so glad God proved that He alone says when it's "Come Home" time, and not one day sooner. To God be the glory!
I love you all.

So relieved and so thankful to God for the progress!
It was great so many people pray for the specifics as your family has so ably put forth. Mary Ann explains; and Jon, O Jon, has such a way in reporting with a sense of humor which is "anxiety-reducing" to the readers when things were not going well. You are an amazing family. My thoughts are with the parents too (senior Dr. A.)
Understanding the assaults that TJ's body has gone through especially the mitral valve, I had asked for a miracle in restoring his health. May God be praised.

These verses have come to mind from the beginning but now seem appropriate to send.
We have prayed verse 3 steadily and rejoice with you at God's mighty hand of grace and mercy on TJ and you all as you keep hoping in the Lord for full healing of body and spirit.

John 11:3-4 3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, "Lord, he whom you love is ill." 4 But when Jesus heard it he said, "This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it." Gary and Elizabeth

Such a blessing! It brings tears to my eyes still as I ponder all that has happened. Only God is able to produce such amazing miracles. To Him be the glory.

Is there a way to send TJ a get well card at home? or maybe through work, if through work i can get that address from my parents. or through a particular person at work?

You are a walking testimony TJ. The testimony of God's love and healing on your life is spreading globally. I am getting emails and calls from people telling me they have been spreading your story. It is incredible how God uses you and your family, TJ.

The prayer I have prayed for the last 7 years of my life has been, "Lord, help me to be open, willing, and obedient to the call and direction you have for my life, no matter the cost." You, Addington's, are a walking example of being open, willing, and obedient no matter what the cost. Because of you, many will come to know our merciful, almighty God.

Thanks for pressing on,
Lindsay

God is receiving glory day after day through your willing and open hearts--(sharing all the details, the specific prayer requests...the answers..and at all hours). Thank you for the privilege of being able to lift each of you before His mighty throne--and behold His power and majesty through the entire situation.
