Pass the Diet Coke, please!

TJ passed the video swallowing and can eat and drink without restrictions and without danger of an aspiration pneumonia! The first thing I did was pour a diet coke on ice- he has several more lined up against his window to keep them somewhat cold. He really does not usually drink all that much diet coke- a 12 pack can last a long time around home, but he has been so dry it is what he has been craving. I left him with a lot of ice water as well.

The doppler of his arm showed no change in the clot. The doctor explained that some swelling may reoccur as one of the vessels in his arm is almost completely occluded. He will be on blood thinners for a long time. He is pretty exhausted with the therapy schedule, but making great progress! He was not, however, impressed with the counting money exercise in OT today.

My apologies with the lateness of this entry. A dear friend and her son came over to move furniture and clean to make room in what has been TJ's study to become our temporary bedroom. We have a splint entry home so if we left the bedroom where it is he would have to do a lot of stairs. Friday is the day they do "rounds" (or a care team meeting) on rehab to discuss progress and determine an estimated time line for discharge. I am working to be ready with the rearrangement at home by Monday or Tuesday at the latest!

Oh yeah, one more big item- the beard is growing back quickly. I really do love his beard as long as I don't have to try to trim it!

Many blessings and much thankfulness.

did Tim count the money and then tell them the exchange rate for the yen and the euro? :) Hang in there, TJ! We all are so thankful for your progress.

We are blessed through your journey.

Praying...as always.

We're so grateful for what God has done and is doing. We have followed the blogs, prayed and fasted along with so many others. God has done things in us and for us through all of this. Does TJs discharge from the hospital mean no more "blogs"? That would be very sad.

Have you thought of how God might want to continue to use this present group mobilization?

It's something for you to think about. I would hope it could continue.

Gratefully,
The Brands

Yeah! Being able to swallow normally will help him feel so much more comfortable. Praying...still praying. Excited about what God is doing, excited for you to have him home, and grateful...so grateful.

I get the diet coke thing.:-) I am thankful that this small request of his is being supplied. I pray that an indescribable peace come over each one of you as you transition to home-that it is not a time of worry or fear, but of trust that the Father will guide all of your steps and provide for all of your needs. I ask that boundaries that are needed will be maintiained and respected, but that TJ continue to thrive from the prayers of the saints and the encouragement from this blog. What an increidble miracle this journey is indeed! Bless them all Lord with rest and peace, in Jesus name.

Dear TJ, Mary Ann, and family,

Obstacles in our life like this blood clot are opportunities for God to display His mighty power and miraculous healing. Day before yesterday, I watched God use an obstacle of a closed road on I-80 as an opportunity through prayer to make it over ice covered roads 200 miles to Salt Lake City. God opened the road. On the way down that night and early morning, I noticed a crown loose in my upper teeth. After praying and leaving my wife at the airport for her earlier flight, I called our IWD District Chairman. He called his wife's dentist. I was seated at the Dentist's office at 9 AM for a 9:20 AM appointment for the crown to be re-cemented. God overcame the obstacle in time before flying out to Tucson for the Board Meeting today at Tucson First Ev. Free. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Obstacles are His door to opportunities for miracles.

These small obstacles God overcame for me are faith builders as I pray about your clot, TJ. God is using the obstacles to show all of us, and even the medical community that nothing is too hard for the Lord. I rejoice in what is coming for you TJ as you are up, walking and talking, unthinkable miracles to dream for a few weeks ago. What a mighty God we serve! He honors our faith in prayer.I love you all.

Uncle T,

I'm still checking the blog regularly and praying. In fact, I woke up this morning thinking of you and being reminded to pray!

So glad for you and Diet Coke to be reunited! I'll think of you today as I drink mine (with lemon!).

Much love from the three of us!

Kim (for Brax and Thomas)

What a great update!! I am so pleased to see TJ's progress and I praise God for allowing all these people come around his bedside via this blog. What a great testimony to witness what God has done.

Continuing to pray.
