A More Specific Prayer Request

A consensus has been reached among the family and our most trusted friends and prayer partners. We are *not* praying for doctoral wisdom regarding the heart, we are praying for a miraculous healing. Plain and simple.

If anyone cares to, feel free to put in the comments all the NT passages that support (and some demand) such prayers. I don't think we have the energy to find them all ourselves.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Mark 11:24

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Romans 8:26

Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

James 5:14-15

Ernest Manges, Ph.D. said...

Matthew 8.16-17 Jesus “healed all the sick.” “This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.’”

Mark 2.5 Jesus responds to the paralytic based on the faith of his friends who carried him.

Mark 7.24-30 Jesus heals a girl while affirming the faith of her mother (faith of a loved one rather than the faith of the one healed).

Luke 4.38-39 Jesus rebukes a fever.

Luke 4.40-41 Jesus lays his hands “on each one” who “had various kinds of sickness” and they are healed.

Luke 8.43-44 Jesus heals when there is no hope from current medical knowledge.

Philippians 2.25-27 Epaphroditus is healed because “God had mercy on him” and also on Paul to spare Paul “sorrow upon sorrow.”

James 5.13-18 Praying for healing. It is the faith of the elders, not the ill one, in view here.

Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

Here's the Scripture with comments: Acts 14:19 and 20 ...they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city supposing he was dead, but the disciples stood around him (Praying and believing I suspect!) and he rose up and entered the city, and on the next day he went on a trip with Barnabas, not in a cushioned car, but most likely on horseback or even a Carriage rattling over cobblestones!

I just wanted to let you know that I passed this on to my christian friends that don't attend my church. So, they are praying as well!

"Save him and he will be saved! [from whatever]
Heal him and he will be healed!
For YOU, O LORD are his praise!" (prayer form personalized from Jer 17:14)

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." John 15;7

"In that day you will not question Me about anything Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you." John:16:23

Ps 103:1-5
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

Ps 107:19b-22
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble;
He saved them out of their distresses.
He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness,
And for His wonders to the sons of men!
Let them also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And tell of His works with joyful singing.

This all reminds me of how PRAYER and PRAISE MUST go together, like the 2 wings on a bird, as Mrs. Charles Cowman said. "after you have prayed and BELIEVED, it is often PRAISE that changes things." there are far more verses to even praise, than to pray in the Bible! Let us offer up SACRIFICES of PRAISE for what God has done, praise for what we expect God to do, and praise for Who God is.
Yes! Let us pray BELIEVING prayers and praises for the healing miracle that He will accomplish! Yes, Lord, we thank You and praise You that you are undertaking MIGHTILY on this man's behalf! (Isa 38:14)

1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
We pray without ceasing for TJ and you his family. Mighty is our God, tender is His heart to His children. We ask for God's glory and power to be revealed in His healing touch on TJ. We ask for His mercy in answering the prayers of His people for His namesake. Through the righteous blood of Jesus, the very stripes he bore for us, by His wounds we are healed. In the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.

"Go unto Him at midnight." (Luke 11:5)

"Go unto Him at midnight!" Let us go when all other doors are barred and even the heavens seem brass, for the gates of prayer are open evermore; and it is only when the sun is gone down and our pitllow is but a stone of the wilderness, that we behold the ladder that reaches unto heaven with our Infinite God above it, and the angels of His providence ascending and descending for our help and deliverance. He is a friend in extremity. He is able for the hardest occasions. He is seated on His throne for the very purpose of giving help in time of need.

"No matter if the case is wholly hopeless, and your situation one where you have nothing, and the hour is dark as midnight, "GO UNTO HIM." Go unto Him at midnight. HE loves the hour of estremity. It is His chosen time of Almighty interposition."

"There's a budding morrow in midnight," so fold your griefs away, and wait for the bud to open, a fragrant and fair new day. Wait for the bud to open, cease to worry and grope, "there's a budding morrow in midnight," its name is THE DAWN OF HOPE."

"God will help us when the sun comes up." (Ps 46:5, Spanish)

"This matter which has been so burdening us just now, and with which we can see no way of dealing, how are we praying about it? In anxiety, or with thanksgiving? Worrying prayer defeats its own answer; rejoicing prayer gets through. "In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thansgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Then will come the answer "EXCEEDING AND ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK." (Phil 4:6, Eph 3:20)

"The more we are cut off from human help, the greater claim we can make on Divine help. The more impossible a thing is to human or mortal power, the more at peace can we be when we look to Him for deliverance."
( from "Springs in the Valley" by Cowman, 25 & 27 Apr)

"Let us fix our eyes, not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary. But what is unseen is eternal." (2 Cor 4:18)

It looks as if there have been 2 miraclous and significant changes in TJ's physiology--the large pleurla effusion is gone and his mitral valve has dramactically improved. Now I call that an answer to prayer! Though he has so many things wrong, we must not lose sight of these significant changes, because both of those could wreck havoc with him. Each a step in the right direction and that means that he is moving towards the long desired healing. When TJ is healed it will a be a MIRACLE you all because these things do not just go away on there own usually. TJ has doctors and nurses to care for him whether you are there or not, but you need to care for yourselves because this may be a long haul. Be kind and gracious to yourselves. Our God is so good. What an amazing story and testimony this situation is. It goes to show what Christians can do when they are united. My love and concern to all of you...Sheila
