Results of CT; Possible New Theory

The CT scan showed lots of fluid around TJ's lung again (a large plural effusion), they put in a chest tube and drained out 300 ccs already (just over one and a quarter cups) and they expect more to be come, to the point where they might put in a second chest tube tomorrow. For anybody wondering, this isn't a fun thing. It's a tube about the size of a thumb going into the chest cavity.

There is a new possible theory, with about as much evidence for it as the current one (the current one being the fungal infection) which is a staph infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Culturing the staph will take less time than culturing the fungus, but we still won't know anything for sure until then.

They did get a good sample for the culture. The method for figuring out if/what it is and what treats it they'll put a sample from TJ in a petri dish with different antibiotics surrounding it. Whichever one it reacts to, if it does at all, is our winner.

Finally a big thanks to everyone who is praying and leaving comments, sending emails, etc. It is very encouraging. When Mary Ann told one of the doctors that we were having a prayer rally of sorts today he said, "Good, that's just what we need."

Edit: Forgot to note two things, the doctor who did the chest tubes thought that there could be up to two liters around his lung. This additional pressure increases the difficulty in breathing, so getting it out is important. There are enough problems inside the lung already.

We're praying that God will give wisdom for an accurate diagnosis and that this diagnosis will be known as soon as possible. May God give TJ complete healing and strength to wait and trust for each of you.

Continuing to pray...

TJ-

We're continually praying for you and your family. Praying for strength, rest and healing, and that God would give the wisdom, guidance, and insight to the people caring for you.

Philipians 4:4-7
4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Dear Addingtons,
About 100 Presbyterians communally prayed for TJ today.

I didn't realize that TJ had led a Leadership Retreat for our church, St. Paul's in Atlanta, while it was still in its infancy. So, not only did he bless our family from the beginning when he married Curtis and me, he had a hand in blessing our church family as they began, as well.

How dear you are to us, TJ! May God's glory be made known through the miraculous healing of your body.

Love,

Sarah

I know many are praying all over and so I will just add our names to the bunch for encouragement's sake. We continue to pray throughout the day and consult the blog. May God use the pain and suffering of this crisis in all our lives for His glory, drawing us closer and more dependent upon Him. We pray for all members of the family who must be exhausted and feeing very tested in their faith. Jay & Kathy Pinney, Montreal, QC

TJ and family - we're praying for you in Ghana ... have been throughout the night and today. We're asking for the enemy to be stripped of any influence within your body, and for the doctors to quickly find the most effective way of restoring your lungs to God's intended design. Our prayers to the whole family with you there as well. Thanks so much for this great tool - allowing us all to pray for you specifically.

I continue to pray for God's miraculous healing and for God to direct the eyes and hands of the doctors so that they will not miss even the smallest hint pointing to what is causing this trouble.

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever -- do not abandon the works of your hands.'
Psalm 138:7-8

Much love

The prayers on behalf of TJ and the family continue. May God's wisdom be given to the doctors in extra measure. We are asking for unusual grace, comfort and strength for the family. We all know that TJ can be a very good fighter for God's honor but we are asking for supernatural strength to fight off the infection, pain, and the shadow passing over him. There is a canopy of God's healing grace and peace being streched out over him. we will continue to trust in the victory of the Lord for TJ. Sam and Sharon.

I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.
Psalm 17

I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.
